Question: Do you think that genes will be modified before birth in the future?

I suppose they could be in the future. We already do some pre-implantation screening, this is if the parents have a family history of serious genetic conditions. We also do screening while the baby is developing…..ultrasound looks for any sort of abnormality in the baby. I also work with some people who are looking at gene therapy while the baby is still in the uterus….this is for things like haemophillia where some of the damage is already done by the time the baby is born!
