Yes – it’s great. You can come in early in the morning and leave early if you like. Or late in the morning and stay late. Also, I can pop out during the day if I like. This is of course, if I get all my work done and don’t have any meetings. Sometimes I work more though, like both early in the mornings and late in the evenings and over the weekend 🙁

I work 9-5 or so, but I could work more flexibly. There’s some activities (such as teaching) that I have to be here for, but otherwise it can be flexible.

Yes, very. Unless you have a meeting, as a PhD student, you can more or less dictate when you come into the lab and when you leave.

Yep, (depending on what experiment you are doing.)

For example, yesterday I took a few hours out to play a football match, so ended up working till 10 to get everything done.

      Hey madscientist….

flexibly long!!! Just kidding! One of the greatist things about being a scientist is being able to work the hours you want, this is mostly in the form of every waking hour, because the amount you put in is the amount you get out….and the harder you work, the better the results and that is only good for your career!
