• Question: Are there any areas of research you would like to see continued if ethics were not an issue. For example embryonic stem cell research?

I think ethics are an important part of research, as it keeps crazy and overzealous scientists in check. However, I do more or less agree with stem cell research and was glad when the government passed the bill on allowing more extensive research on embryos in 2008.

I’m not sure. I think you can’t really separate ethics from science. I wouldn’t work on anything I didn’t feel comfortable with

      Hi r1ch,

I don’t think ethics should ever be discounted from research! However, I agree with the use of embryonic stem cells for research for a number of reasons and I think their use should continue. As someone who recently had kids I can honestly say that I didn’t think of them as people until they were actually outside my body….until then they were just organs! In fact, having seen how helpless infants are, I would have to say that they don’t really become separate from their mothers until about 3 months!
