Most medical research at some point does involve animals. There is no real substitute to seeing if a drug works, or how a tumour develops, or how cancers spread apart from in an animal. However the use of animals is so tightly regulated, and the cost of keeping them is so high, that they are not a major part of any research programme. I think there are a lot of people that wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for the use of animals in medical research. I am defintiely very very against the use of animals in cosmetic testing though!
