I speak English, and can get by in French (my reading is best, but now as I’ve not just it much recently, I’ve forgotten a lot of vocabulary).
Speakinga another language is a good skill to have, but I don’t think that as an English speaker, there’s so much less of an incentive to learn a language than non English speakers have.
Hi, I speak three languages more or less fluently: English, German and Swedish. I think a language is an important part of cultures and it’s definitely an advantage to know at least one other language apart from your mother tongue. It’s probably not as essential as it used to be though.
I speak english…..and a tiny bit of German, italian and Maori (native NZ language)…..language is really important, it teaches your mind to do cool things!
And one could say that in a multi-cultural society such as today it is important to know as many languages as possible as it opens your mind. With each language learnt a bit of its culture is learnt too which is really important. And knowing a lot of languages is really cool! I can speak four languages fluently and I am trying to learn a fifth one!
