Question: I'm fiona from st. leonards, i wanted to ask how you think people would recieve your research if you made a major breakthrough? Would you expect much praise and commendation from normal people?
It would depend! There are groups in London and Paris who made a pretty special breakthrough in treating children with a very rare blood disorder. That didn’t really get any attention until a couple of the kids got cancer…..that got HEAPS of attention, but when the kids got better….again nothing!!!
But, one of the lecturers here found a drug that treats children with childhood epilepsy…..she get’s emails from parents thanking her.
I wouldn’t expect thanks….I’m not doing this for recognition, I do it cause I love it!
