      Hi christina,

      gene therapy is designed to be a cure although in practise it will probably be more like a drug……after treatment symptoms should improve but repeats might be needed. One where it is a cure is for the treatment of a very rare blood disorder called ADA-SCID. About 11 kids were treated and were essentially cured!
      I suppose the aim for gene therapy is to a) get people off the current treatment b) give an alternative for people who can’t have any treatment and c) improve quality of life!!
