I think the main danger of GM foods is that the genetically modified strain could take over natural strains, as farmers will feel pressured to use them, as they will probably give a higher yield.

      Hi carag,

I did a LOT of digging on this because so many people where asking it yesterday!!! Millions of humans have been eating genetically modified foods for at least 15 years now with NO adverse side effects!! That is better than ALL drugs!!! This makes sense when you think about it……GM is not trying to make tomatos with pig skin or make chickens grow on trees!! It’s trying to tweak genetics to make plants that can handle drought better…..need fewer nutrients to make more fruit….things that are going to become REALLY important as the human population rises and resources decrease from climate change. Seriously GM is a good thing!!!

That they will make changes making crops so good at growing they start taking over natural crops in the wild.

however, i think the potential benefits massively outweigh the risks!

There’s a variety of dangers, such as them taking over from some native species, but this risk needs to be managed, and the benefits should outweigh the possibel downsides
