I chose to look at expression of genes as I felt this is the first step of life and without functional expression of genes, there would be no life. To understand this process better can have numerous applications.

I’d always been fascinated by how the body works, and before too long that involves also studying how it goes wrong.

I also wanted to do medical research, and cancer is both a very common disease and one with still lots of progress to be made.

I’ve always chosen to do things that I find interesting, often regardless of the bigger picture or what people normally do. So, I followed by interest in Maths, and chose the steps that I have at each point where i’ve had to make a decision. I ended up here. I’m quite happy I have.

      Hey Mnottag,

I chose gene therapy because I think it’s a really cool idea…..delivering a working copy of the gene that is wrong in people with genetic conditions….it just makes sense!!! I chose FH because its cardiovascular stuff which I just find really interesting!!
