• Question: Why is it impossible to understand biology in the absence of evolution?

      Well you could probably still understand a lot of biology without evolution. But it helps explain the origins of organisms and cellular processes.

      Hi megnog,

      I don’t think it’s impossible, but so much of our understanding of how the body works comes from evolution!!! We use it all the time in genetics! To understand how genes work we are always looking at their evolution……all scientists talk about biology in terms of an evolution! I can’t think about biology or genetics without thinking about evolution!

      I’m not sure thats true. Evolution states that natural variation leads to slight differences between individual of a species. These are more likely to pass on those advantageous genes to the next generation. thus species slowly change over time.
